Terms of Service

Last updated October 24, 2026

Life At is an independent, student-built project serving Life at Charlotte. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by UNC Charlotte.

By using the Life At app and its Life at Charlotte campus service, you agree to these terms.

Independent service

Life At is an independent, student-built project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by UNC Charlotte. University names and marks belong to their respective owners. Naming the university or one of its systems, like Banner, only says which school or system I mean. It does not mean the university approves of Life At.

What the app is

A personal dashboard for schedules, goals, campus locations, friends, and student chat. You can compare schedule details that another student chooses to share. Campus data, rooms, and event details may be out of date. Check your university's official sources for registration, deadlines, and building access.

Your account and your data

  • You are responsible for what you put in your workspace and post in chat.
  • You may load only data you are entitled to use, such as your own schedule.
  • Do not copy, publish, or misuse schedule or living details shared with you.
  • You can delete your data and account at any time.

Community rules

You agree not to:

  • Post harassment, threats, hate speech, or slurs.
  • Post illegal content, including any sexual content involving minors.
  • Share or solicit graded coursework, exam content, or anything that would violate your university's academic-integrity rules or a course's rules.
  • Spam, impersonate others, or attempt to break or overload the service.

Messages may be moderated, hidden after reports, or removed. The app may suspend access for violations. Every message in campus chat and in a friend group chat can be reported, and its author can be blocked, from the message itself; you can delete your own messages. Blocking hides the two of you from each other everywhere in the app and ends any friendship between you. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours. Illegal content may be reported to the appropriate authorities. Child sexual abuse material will be reported to NCMEC as required by law.

Academic integrity

The app does not do coursework for you and is not a substitute for your own work. Using it, or its chat, to cheat is a violation of these terms and, separately, of your university's academic-integrity rules, which apply to you regardless of this app.

Seat alerts

Seat alerts are a Life at Charlotte feature for UNC Charlotte classes. You pick a section or a course, I check Charlotte's public Banner class search every hour from 7 am to 11 pm, and when a seat shows up I tell you on your seat list, in your browser while the seats page is open if you allow it, and on your iPhone if you allow it. Seat alerts do not send email for now; these terms will say so before that changes.

  • Life at Charlotte is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or run by UNC Charlotte or its Office of the Registrar.
  • Seat counts come from Charlotte's public Banner class search, the same Schedule of Classes anyone can open. A count can be up to an hour old by the time you read it, and the class search itself can be late or wrong.
  • An alert says what the class search showed at a certain time. It is not a promise that the seat is still open, that it is open to you, or that you can register. Wait lists, reserved seats, prerequisites, time conflicts, holds, and your registration window can all stand in the way.
  • Life at Charlotte never registers you, never signs in to Banner for you, and never asks for your NinerNET password. Registering is up to you, in Banner.
  • Alerts can arrive late, twice, or not at all. Notifications can be delayed or turned off on your device, and checks pause when the class search does not answer. Do not count on an alert as your only way to get a seat, and keep your place on any Banner wait list you join.
  • Checks for a Spring 2027 watch end after Jan 19, the last day to add a class. You can stop a watch any time with STOP on your seat list, or by deleting your account.
  • Watch only classes you might take. Do not use seat alerts, or anything else in the app, to load Banner heavily, to trade or sell seats, or to get around UNC Charlotte's registration rules. Your own use of university systems stays under UNC Charlotte's Standard for Responsible Use.
  • I can change, pause, or end seat alerts at any time, including if UNC Charlotte asks me to stop checking its class search. If the class search ever refuses a check, checks stop until I look into it.
  • To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for a missed, late, or wrong alert, for a seat you did not get, or for a registration choice you made because of an alert.

Availability and disclaimer

The app is provided "as is," without warranties. It may change or go offline. To the extent allowed by law, the operator is not liable for damages arising from use of the app or from reliance on information shown in it.

The app is not responsible for messages or content posted by other users. Those users are responsible for what they post.

These terms may change, and material changes will be posted here with a new date.
